Joshua is the owner and founder of Lucero Hair and Wellness. He has been doing hair since 2013 and has truly cultivated a passion for his craft. He got into this industry to find a better life for himself, and being able to give inclusive and creative services to people is one of his life goals. He has been able to share his knowledge and travel to some beautiful places to use his skills, but his favorite destinations are Portugal and Kauai. He plans to continue his dream of creating safe spaces for LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities by offering education and events for these marginalized communities. He lives with his husband and 2 dogs in Murray.

He loves to play video games, and watch movies and tv with his family. If they aren’t relaxing at home, he loves to experience new places with his wife and kids. His next spots will either be India, Hawaii, or Alaska. Share any info about those places with Kevin! In the meantime, before traveling, he loves to get out on his motorcycle and do some hiking! Ultimately, he wishes he could just teleport to any location to make life easier. He would of course take his wife since they happened to have gotten married twice.

In his free time, Nate likes to cycle around Salt Lake, go to a show at Wiseguys or spend time with his animals and his friends. An ideal vacation for him would be to go to Indonesia to explore the part of the world where Orangutans and Reticulated Pythons live, Nate is a snake breeder and enthusiast. His hobbies range from playing drums, singing and working out. He would love to have the power of telekinesis, just to be able to lift things even heavier than he already can.

I’m Mel (she/her), Studio Director and Haircutting Specialist here at Lucero. I’m passionate about big transformations, gender-affirming haircuts, curly cuts, and helping you bring your creative vision to life. I also offer color services, hair replacement systems, and pretty much everything else we have in the shop! Getting my own hair done has always been one of my favorite things, and it’s been a dream to create a safe, inclusive space where everyone can leave feeling just as great about their hair as I do after a fresh cut.

Brooklyn (they/them) specializes and thrives in cutting textured/curly hair, alternative styles, messy shags, mullets and a variety in-between! Gender affirming care, inclusivity, and ending ableism are some of the things that they are extremely passionate about. For Brooklyn, that looks like allowing everyone who comes in to take up space and feel heard and seen in the ways that they need. Hair has no limits and can play a huge part in self expression, which is why it is important to them to create a space where exploration is welcome! They have personally explored so many styles from shaving their head to having hair down to their hips, and feel their own wavy/curly hair has benefited their experience and education with textured hair. Brooklyn is proudly queer and autistic! They love street tacos, watching movies, sunshine, Halloween, going to Disneyland, live music, spending time with their partner and staying active in making the world a better place.

I love having a variety of work; blondes, vivid colors, shags, mullets, blowouts etc.! I am dedicated to making my chair a comfortable and safe space for all folks. I love teaching about at-home hair care and am always happy to talk through the process of products and styling!

I have been doing hair for 3 years and enjoy focusing on everything I can learn about cutting. I have two cats, and love photography, running, yoga, and earl grey tea. Summer is my favorite because I like camping near our many national parks and hiking.

They love helping people feel comfortable in their own skin, to express themselves how they want, and build confidence in their appearance. They focus primarily on low-effort maintenance and educating their clients how to easily style their hair every morning, even if they are in a hurry. They make sure to pay close attention to head and face shape, skin tone, eye color, hair growth patterns, and how a style will grow out; all to ensure that you love how you look when you sit back down for your next appointment, just as much as you did when you left your last!

Carol is a passionate hairstylist known for her creative flair and attention to detail. With a natural talent for transforming hair, she delivers a personalized service that perfectly complements her clients’ individuality. Equipped with the latest techniques and trends, Carol specializes in color transformations, trendy hairstyling, and is now taking short-length apprentice haircuts. Her warm personality and commitment to excellent customer service create an inviting atmosphere where clients can relax while receiving top-notch hair care.

Hi hi hi! I’m Milo, he/they. To me hair is a tool to express your inner self and can help provide some light and whimsy to life. Helping you see you is my goal. I specialize in curly and wavy hair, gender affirming cuts, shags, mullets, long and short! I love to create, whether it’s written, painted, or carved! Yoga with some tea and my pet Francis is my ideal way to end the day.

Hey, I’m Cayley — born and raised in Salt Lake City, with a deep love for adventure, the outdoors, and giving back to my community through local outreach. My passion for barbering started young, drawn to the salon experience and the genuine connections it creates. I specialize in mod cuts, mullets, intricate sheer cutting, and strong foundational shapes, blending traditional barbering with expressive, detail-driven work. From clean tapers and fades to lived-in texture and intentional movement, my goal is to create cuts that feel elevated, confident, and effortless — just like you. Inclusivity is at the heart of my work, and I’m dedicated to creating a safe, welcoming space where everyone feels seen, celebrated, and authentically themselves. Outside the shop, you’ll find me at metal shows, EDM festivals, in the gym, or with my animals.

Holden (he/him) is eager to continue learning and growing as a part of Lucero’s mission and team. He is passionate about bettering his craft and believes hair is a powerful form of self-expression. When not in the salon, he enjoys cottagecore crafts like knitting, needlepoint, and sewing. He also enjoys baking sourdough and being a whimsical, goofy guy.
